108 Sun Salutations

I did 108 sun salutations last night for a benefit for a few families who lost everything in an apartment fire in Bridgeport, CT. It was such an amazing experience and for a great cause. Did anyone else do 108 yesterday???

Mission Impossible?? NO way!!

So, I did it. I completed 30 days of Bikram yoga. I missed one day, and made it up with a double session. I also did a few other doubles just for fun ;) When beginning this challenge, I thought of it as just that. I thought OMG how am I going to come to 90 minutes of hot yoga each day for a whole month. I thought I’d be beyond tired, sore and burnt out. In reality, the hardest part of the whole thing was scheduling the time to get to class. I work in NYC and commute back to Connecticut, so most nights I would miss the 530 class I like attending and get to the 730 class. I also had to take off a couple nights from my bartending job to make it. Also, I had to make sure that despite of Turkey day and food comas I still made it into hot room. And I did. I stuck with it, I persevered and I completed the challenge. Over the 28 years of my life, I’ve tried many times to start things and have failed to complete them. Not that I’m a quitter, but I’ve had to try lots of things to find out what it is that I do like. Whether it be in my personal or professional life or in my free time - I’ve tried many things and dismissed many things. By the end of the 30 days, this was no longer a challenge or commitment, it has become an obsession. I look forward to rolling out my mat and breathing in the warm humid air in the yoga room because of the release and feeling of well being it provides me with at the end of class. The challenge for me now will be to take a day off. This yoga has become a part of my life and I can’t wait to see the many more positive changes that I will reap from my practice. namaste!!

Today’s DIY Mantra: Find ANYTHING in this graphic that you can relate to and ACT on it.
Action precipitates change. You must ACT on new ways of thinking, new ways of doing and new ways of living in order to see the benefits.
If ‘friends are more important than money’, how will you ACT on that so it is true of your life? How can you treat your friends in a way that communicates that message to them? A random phone call, a compliment, the gift of your time?
If ‘jealousy works the opposite way you want it to’ what can you do to make a change in your jealous behavior? Biting your tongue, being more patient, or reminding yourself that jealousy doesn’t help you in the long run?
If ‘your outlook on life is a direct reflection of how much you like yourself’, how can you change how you feel about yourself TODAY that can help that outlook be more positive? A run? A facial? Painting your toenails? Volunteering?
Action precipitates change. It’s not the message that matters, it’s how you use it.
